Here are the various Ford F-150 trim levels available for the 2023 model year:

  • XL.

2023 Ford F-150 Engine Options

There aren't as many engine options for the 2023 Ford F-150 as there are trim levels, but it's closer than you might think. You'll be able to choose from several engine options. There is a 3.3-liter V-6 engine that can produce up to 290 horsepower. There's also a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that can produce up to 400 horsepower. Additionally, there is a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 engine that can produce up to 325 horsepower, a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine that can produce up to 450 horsepower, and a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that can output 400 horsepower.

But the most exciting option of the bunch is definitely the 430-horsepower hybrid powertrain that's available for the Ford F-150 for the first time ever. It includes a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine and a 35 kW electric motor that'll provide you with up to 700 miles of driving range on a single tank of gas.

Regardless of which engine option you choose for a 2023 Ford F-150, it'll come with a 10-speed automatic transmission. You will, however, need to decide between rear- and four-wheel drive for any of the F-150 powertrain setups.

2023 Ford F-150 Towing Capacities

The towing capacity you'll enjoy when you drive home in a 2023 Ford F-150 will depend on which of the different engine options you decide to go with. That's why you should put some serious thought into which engine option will check all the right boxes for you in the towing department. There are a few Ford F-150 engines that can tow significantly more than others.

The base 3.3-liter V-6 engine has a towing capacity that'll max out at around 8,200 pounds. The diesel V-6 engine, meanwhile, has a max towing capacity of about 12,100 pounds, and the hybrid model has a towing capacity of about 12,700 pounds. The 5.0-liter V-8 engine hits a towing capacity of 13,000 pounds. But it's the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine that steals the show with a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds.

Each of these towing capacities is impressive in its own right and puts the 2023 Ford F-150 on par with all its key competitors, including the Ram 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and GMC Sierra 1500. You're welcome to select whichever towing capacity will work best for you based on how you plan to utilize your 2023 Ford F-150.

This is yet another area in which the 2023 Ford F-150 excels. Some of the lower Ford F-150 trims are able to manage payload capacities of just 1,840 pounds. But the Ford F-150's payload capacity will top out at 3,310 pounds for the 2023 model year.
